Beckley serves as the hub of Southern West Virginia with a trade area of over 200,000 people. The completion of I-64 and I-77 have solidified our position as the medical, education, and service center of Southern West Virginia.

You are within minutes of whitewater rafting on the oldest river in North America - the New River. The river is spanned by the famous New River Gorge Bridge, which is the longest single-span arch bridge in the world.



Winter Place
Winterplace Ski Resort located 15 miles from Beckley, offers outstanding skiing to residents of West Virginia and the Southeastern Unites states.

The City of Beckley offers guided trips through its Exhibition Mine, which depicts coal mining before the modernization of the coal industry. The Mine is located in the New River Park Complex. The New River Park offers swimming, a waterslide, tennis, horseshoe pits, a covered shelter, and miniature golf.

The Youth museum is located adjacent to the Park and offers exhibits for youth and old alike.

Theatre West Virginia, our resident theatre group, resides during the summer months at Grandview. "Honey in the Rock" portrays the birth of the State of West Virginia, while "Hatfields and McCoys" presents the blood feud between two famous mountain families.

"Wildwood", the famous home of Beckley's founder, General Alfred Beckley, is an outstanding example of our Civil War History.
